Woolworths Auckland DistributionCentre

A massive 200m by 100m warehouse with the latest on food storage technology. More than 150 Wireless Access Points. 6 Remote Communication Cabinets connected via Fiber Optics and 2 Main Commsrooms.
A different approach to the usual commercial wireless installation was used because of the nature of the building consisting in mainly fridge areas where humidity and temperatures were not ideal for permanent electronic devices such as Wireless Access Points. All AP’s had to be installed inside the ceiling area, behind the temperature isolation panels inside their own enclosures and the antennas had to be routed to the other side of the panel to ensure the data transmission to the fridge area bellow the ceiling onto the main warehouse areas.

External Wireless Access Points (AP’s) where also a challenge due to weather and placement they had to be mount with special antennas and on their own enclosures to prevent damage and to maximize data transmission to the vehicles driving around the building.

All data outlets were installed and tested under the supervision of Aotea Electric Communications Division whom I have the luck to be working with. Special thanks to Troy Hari for his constant support while managing this project.

Skills I acquired from this project: Humidity and temperature control on Wi-Fi Access Points. Fiber Optics Commissioning. Fluke Tester Fiber optics Configurations. NZ safety standards on Commercial Projects. Systems Integration. Cisco Meraki Testing and Commissioning. Wi-Fi deploying and configuring. Security Cameras.
