Kasm

Kasm is a Containerized Desktop Infrastructure that serves all types of applications streaming them from your server/docker environment into your browser.  It may sound confusing at first, but once Kasm is up and running on your system is the easiest  way to deploy apps that can work isolated and independent of your system’s files structure. Let’s dive in.

Kasm creates a safe space in which to run apps from and gives you the infrastructure to make easy deploy of Linux-based applications and desktops, so your team can work securely from any device or location.

Kasm Workspaces creates a customized instance of a desktop or application and securely delivers it through a web browser, so that your data stays safe and your workforce stays productive.

Why would you want to have apps running on a virtualized environment when you already have you computer with all the apps you need? Theres a couple of reason you may want to do that:

The first one is Security.

There’s no better option to avoid getting hacked that run suspicious links or applications on an isolated virtualized environment. Let’s say you get an email from the prince of Greece telling you that it has an offer for you but you need to click on the link in the next 5 minutes. Well… you can’t let the offer pass so you can open a browser using kasm and send your credit cards details to the Prince of Greece without the risk of getting hacked.

Im joking, but you get the idea.

Kasm let’s you can open apps independently of your system without letting important information from your system getting leak out to the receivers, and separate from your system’s files and folders, so attackers cannot browse around your hard drive to steal info or install malware or viruses.

The Second good option is Resources Re-Use and Disposability: You can get rid of the app you are using as soon as you end the session. But what that means? It means that when you close your browser instance or your preferred Operative System all the temporary data / cache / cookies / users and passwords / browser history , etc. will all disappear and also all the files related to that particular session/app. This means that the app will not accumulate rubbish files on your system and will not storage relevant important data that can be use against your system’s security.

A Third good thing to be using Kasm is the option of a Cloud deployment: you can do everything you do with the Kasm Workspaces app on your local system also in the the Cloud. and run applications and other Systems like Ubuntu in a clouded environment, this way you can totally de-attach your personal or company network from the apps / OS’s that can be run remotely on Kasm servers.

Kasm is not just a service, it is a highly configurable platform, with a robust developer API that can be customized for your use-case, at any scale. Workspaces is truly wherever the work is. It can be deployed in the cloud (Public or Private), on-premise (Including Air-Gapped Networks), or in a hybrid configuration.

Other benefits of using Kasm:

FLEXIBLE & ACCESSIBLE DEPLOYMENT
Workspaces is wherever the work is. Log in from any modern web browser. Host the entire stack on-premise, in your private cloud, or have us host it for you (SaaS).

HIGH PERFORMANCE & EFFICIENCY
Workspaces are delivered through Docker containers, rather than full stack virtual machines, dramatically reducing platform resource requirements and enabling sessions to boot in seconds, rather than minutes.

ROBUST SECURITY
The Workspaces platform handles all aspects of cybersecurity: single sign-on/2-factor authentication, data loss prevention (DLP), security groups, logging, and web filtering.

INFINATELY CUSTOMIZABLE & SCALABLE
Our library of browsers, desktops, and applications combined with our robust Developer API allows administrators ultimate freedom to develop customized images and devops pipelines to meet even the most unique requirements and at massive scale.

OPEN-SOURCE
Kasm Technologies is committed to supporting the open-source community, so we have made all of our Workspaces images and the Workspaces container streaming technology available on Docker Hub and GitHub.
